VERBA M-series slurry trough for fattening pigs and piglets
A pig slurry feeder is a feeding trough for pigs in which the pig itself dispenses dry feed into the trough via a flap mechanism. The pig can then use the drinking nipple provided in the slurry feeder to mix the dry feed with water to make a slurry.
In the early 1980s, Bert Verbakel, a former pig farmer and founder of Verba, invented the pig slurry trough. This has been further developed into the current M-series pig feed trough. This makes the M-series slurry troughs for fattening pigs and piglets the only genuine original pig slurry troughs.

This pig feeder is fitted with a unique dosing mechanism featuring a Stainless steel drinking nipple. The feeding system mixes feed and water in the correct proportions in response to the pig’s natural feeding movements, ensuring optimal feed conversion and cost savings. The optimal dosage of pig feed is 4 grams per flap movement.
Robust design and installation
A pig feeding trough must be securely fixed at the rear and firmly positioned on the floor with mounting brackets. Preferably in a corner of the pigsty. The double pig feed trough models are available in side-by-side and back-to-back configurations, allowing larger groups of pigs to be fed. The light-coloured interior of the Verba pig slurry troughs ensures better feed intake and facilitates hygiene checks.
Various models and uses
The M19100 pig slurry feeders are suitable for pellet, granule and crumb feed, whilst the MU19100 pig slurry feeders are suitable for meal feed. The recommended number of pigs per slurry feeder is slightly higher than for a dry feed trough, as pigs spend less time eating thanks to the availability of water. This reduces feeding time by 17% and cuts the number of feeding sessions by 39% (source: ILVO/varkensloket.be).
Guarantee and accreditation
From independent research Research by the Hillsborough Agricultural Research Institute (’01) shows that the best feed conversion is achieved by pigs using the Verba feeder. These conversion figures were significantly better than those for all other types of pig feeders.

VERBA pig troughs come with a 7-year warranty against material and manufacturing defects, and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects for the drinking nipples. Drinking nipples are suitable for water only, not for additives.
