Why replace a pig trough?

If your pigs’ or piglets’ feed troughs no longer meet your requirements or (future) welfare standards: VERBA always has the right pig feed trough for you in the range. We can also customise a pig feeder entirely to your requirements. For example, we are currently seeing an explosive rise in demand for feeders for fattening pigs with a feeding width of 350 mm, due to the revision of the ‘Beter Leven’ 1-star standard due to come into force in 2025 and the mandatory long tails by 2030. And VERBA has those extra-wide pig feeders for you – after all, we’re at the forefront of innovation in pig farming! But of course you’ll also want to sell your old equipment – what’s the smartest way to go about it?

Should I sell the feeding trough myself or trade it in?

Naturally, you’ll also want to get rid of your used pig feeders. Most pig farmers choose to sell them themselves online. They want to take matters into their own hands. And we prefer that too. After all, you’ll end up with much more money than if you were to have them bought up by a dealer in second-hand farm equipment. Think, for example, of transport costs, storage costs and the dealer’s profit margin – costs you won’t have to pay now. Marketplace, eBay Social media and digital noticeboards are excellent channels for this. This varies from country to country.

If you’d rather not have to deal with it and are happy with a lower trade-in price, we can put you in touch with several dealers in second-hand livestock equipment. Unlike others, we are not reliant on a single buyer, but are in contact with several dealers in second-hand stable equipment, both at home and abroad, who are interested in your old piglet and pig feeders, whatever the make! This way, you’ll always get the best price on the market, you’ll remain in control, and you won’t end up short-changing yourself.

Why has the trade in second-hand and new feeders been deliberately separated?

We believe that you should pay close attention to the health of your pigs. We consider the mixing of used and new pig feed troughs during transport and handling to pose too great a health risk to your pigs. The mixing of dirt, old feed, manure and potential bacteria inevitably poses a risk to our production facilities or transport vehicles, and we wish to prevent this 100 per cent at all times. That is why we believe these should not be combined.

Transparent pricing if you sell your own feeders

The main advantage of selling your pig feeders yourself, or through a dealer we recommend, is that you can see exactly what you’re paying for new pig feeders and what you’re receiving for second-hand ones. This ensures maximum transparency. We want to ensure you don’t feel you’re getting too little for your used pig feeders or paying too much for new ones, which can happen if you deal with a single supplier for everything. We have no vested interest in companies that sell second-hand farm equipment and would like to keep it that way. We only pass on dealers’ contact details, but you remain in control. Our advice for getting the best deal: always sell your own pig feeders!

Good trade-in price for VERBA pig feeders

We’re always told that second-hand VERBA pig feeders fetch the highest prices of any brand and sell the quickest – and with good reason! The quality is and remains excellent even after prolonged use, and what’s more, we always have spare parts in stock. Please bear this in mind when purchasing a new feed trough for pigs, piglets or sows.
